Ending August With Fun And Challenging Chaos
Snake River Flows are up from Jackson Lake Dam and currently stand at approximately 3,000 cfs. Fishing was challenging after these increases but the river has settled down, fish have acclimated, and water temps have cooled to the point that finishing at or before 3pm is of no need. There has been decent to good fishing most days and the increased flow have opened up certain riffle and side channels that previously were not worth targeting, and this is the case for all reach


Keep An Eye On The Water Temps
Snake River Water temps remain warm on most of the river with gauges going over 70 degrees by 4pm. There is still good surface action with Claassenia stoneflies and caddis emerging primarily and a smattering of PMDs around in the afternoon. The best surface action has been in the morning from approximately 8am until noon. Dry fly eats slowly starts to wane in the afternoon most days. Cooler, Wetter Weather Is Helping Keep Things In Shape
Snake River Recent rains have helps cool temps by two to three helpful degrees. We are seeing our first signs of Claassenia on the Snake and we should be seeing a lot more over the coming days. Fishing has been most consistent along banks and submerged structure, although riffles are starting to fish decent, especially below South Park, as PMDs continue to come off after 11am. All of these waters, as well as side channels, confluences, and troughs, are fishing well with te
