Spring Carpin' on Blackfoot Reservoir
Hitting Idaho's Blackfoot Reservoir in May is a crap shoot in terms of conditions. May times in the past we were greeted with rain, snow, and/or chilly temperatures. This year we had temperatures in the 70s, no wind, and crystal clear water. These are some of the best conditions I have experienced on this annual outing over the past seven years.
I got to fish with some studs as usual - Jeff Currier, Josh Gallivan, Trey Sharp, Scott Smith, and Ben Smith. Always good hanging out with these guys.
The time of year, along with the clarity of water, allowed us to sight cast to mirror carp each day in two to four feet of water. Its always fun to actually watch these fish follow your crayfish imitation of Carp Candy pattern and crush it. Freshwater redfishing!
