Late Winter Fly Fishing - Midges, Midges Everywhere!!

We have some pretty solid late winter fly fishing on the Snake and the South Fork at the moment. Midges are everywhere, and surface action has actually been better on the cooler days when highs peek in the low 40s than on those days with temps near 50 degrees. Surface action is lasting between three and four hours. When you find an active pod, sit on it and fish it hard. Between the different stints of surface action, throw streamers and fish them on a floating, hover, or intermediate sinking line. The streamer bite has been really good over the past couple of weeks.
